Our accessibility aim
The production website should meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA. This prototype has been designed with responsive layouts, keyboard-visible focus, skip links, structured headings, labelled navigation, descriptive image text and larger touch targets. This is an aim rather than a formal claim of compliance.
What you should be able to do
- zoom text without losing essential content or function;
- navigate using a keyboard;
- use common screen readers and mobile accessibility tools;
- view the site on phones, tablets and desktop screens;
- understand links, headings and instructions without relying on colour alone.
Known limitations
Embedded YouTube controls are supplied by a third party. Controlled PDF documents have not yet been added and must be checked for tagging, reading order, headings, meaningful link text and accessible alternatives before publication. The final WordPress theme, plugins, cookie controls and recruitment-data display also require testing.
Alternative formats
If you need information in another format—such as large print, an accessible digital document, audio or another language—contact the research nurse at your baby’s local hospital for trial documents, or email BALLOON@cardiff.ac.uk for a website-related request. Please describe the document and format required.
Reporting a problem
Please tell the BALLOON team which page caused difficulty, what device or assistive technology you were using and, if possible, include a screenshot. We will review reported barriers and prioritise problems preventing access to essential trial information.
Complete keyboard, screen-reader, zoom, colour-contrast, PDF and mobile-device testing after the design has been transferred into WordPress, then update this statement with the audit date, compliance status and any remaining exemptions.
